From April 22 to 25, the final round of the Third National College Student Career Planning Competition was successfully concluded at Nankai University in Tianjin. A student from Guangzhou Institute of Science and Technology (GZIST) stood out among the national finalists with clear career awareness and solid comprehensive competencies. Zhong Yongchong won the Silver Award in the Growth Track (Higher Education Division), while the Institute also received the Outstanding Organization Award, fully demonstrating GZIST's solid achievements and educational strength in career development and employment guidance.
The competition was jointly organized by the Ministry of Education and the Tianjin Municipal People's Government under the theme "Building Dreams for a Promising Future; Planning Careers to Guide the Way Ahead." As the most extensive and influential authoritative competition in the field of college student career planning in China, the event followed a three-tier structure: campus, provincial, and national finals. It attracted 20.55 million students from 2,833 universities across the country, with 16.14 million registering for the Growth Track alone. After rigorous selection, only 798 contestants advanced to the national finals. The Growth Track, hosted by Nankai University, focused on evaluating the comprehensive abilities of lower- and middle-grade undergraduates in establishing career development concepts, setting career goals, and making dynamic adjustments.
The final round brought together a highly competitive field of outstanding participants. As the representative of GZIST in the Growth Track, Zhong Yongchong excelled in the themed presentation and Q&A sessions with a well-developed career development report, clear career positioning, detailed action plans, and a calm, confident performance. He stood out among hundreds of top contestants nationwide and ultimately won the Silver Award. Meanwhile, due to its rigorous and efficient organizational work and thorough competition preparations, Guangzhou Institute of Science and Technology was granted the Outstanding Organization Award by the competition committee, which serves as a high recognition of the Institute's efforts in employment-oriented education.
Guangzhou Institute of Science and Technology places great emphasis on career development and employment guidance for college students, consistently integrating career planning education throughout the entire talent cultivation process. Using the competition as a lever, the Institute has built a career education system that promotes "learning through competition, practice through competition, and teaching through competition." Through a series of measures—including offering career planning courses, providing career counseling and guidance, organizing campus-level competitions, and strengthening pre-competition training—the Institute guides students to form correct job-seeking and employment outlooks, to plan their academic and career development paths scientifically, and to comprehensively enhance their professional competencies and core competitiveness.
Looking ahead, the Institute will continue to optimize its employment-oriented education system, empower student growth through competitions, and help GZIST students clarify their career directions, bravely shoulder the responsibilities of the times, and achieve high-quality employment and long-term career development.
